Movies That Are Less Smarter Than You Think They Are
Movies are a great form of entertainment when you are bored and want to pass the time. And there’s nothing more entertaining than re-watching old movies and just enjoying the story again. However, sometimes we come across some movies that we re-watch and think about how bad they were. Of course, not every movie turns out to be terrible, but it still leaves you shocked at how much you didn’t notice before.
In a way, it is also fun to sit back and scrutinize these movies and look at the things you had missed before. So, if you are planning on doing that this weekend, then we’ve got just the movies you need to go back and watch! To watch these movies and quite literally do anything else, you need a good internet connection.

With a good internet connection, you will be able to thoroughly enjoy the film and question the people who made the film too. Now, let the movies roll!
Don’t Look Up
When the trailer for this movie was released and even shortly after the movie was released, it created a lot of hype. This was mostly due to the cast, which included top-of-the-line celebrities like Ariana Grande, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, and many others. Fans of these celebrities rushed to the theaters to watch the movie and see what it was all about.
While the plot of the movie is pretty heavy and is about climate change, it failed to effectively serve as a warning. At the same time, you can tell the movie is supposed to be a satirical film, but it doesn’t exactly make it there either. It is like they were trying too hard for the movie to be too many things at once. And of course, it didn’t work. Hence, this movie could’ve definitely done a lot better!
Joker
Yes, let’s talk about the Oscar-winning superhero film, Joker. This movie is undoubtedly one of the best movies to grace the theaters and our TV screens. Unlike any other film that explores the back story or the origin story of a villain, this movie will make you feel everything the Joker feels. It’s unfortunate, sad, scary, and a heck of a thrill ride!
However, this movie is not at all accurate in its depiction of people with mental illnesses. In this movie, we get the message that mentally ill people can be a danger to society if they are left to their devices. However, this creates a very damaging stereotype. Since Joker becomes violent when he is pushed to limits, this often gives people the wrong impression of handling or dealing with any person with a mental illness.
Now You See Me
Think Ocean’s Eleven with a little bit of magic. That is exactly what this movie is! A bunch of street magicians comes together to perform on a bigger stage and win big. As you can imagine, the movie is packed with magic tricks and shows that take the audience’s breath away. Of course, while these magic tricks are all amazing, that is all they are: tricks.
The movie is quite similar to these magic tricks in the sense that it is flashy but there’s actually not much to it. We get to see so many twists in the movie, but then again, we are never told how these tricks were even possible in the first place. Their bigger tricks were revealed, no doubt, but not so much their other tricks that may be small but are crucial to the plot. Even in the end, we have no idea of what the secret society is and why it is such a popular place.
The Da Vinci Code
One of the most popular movies to hit the big screens was adapted from an equally popular novel called The Da Vinci Code. The story of the novel and movie is pretty simple: There is a possible descendant of Jesus Christ and that person is being hunted down by the Church. The story definitely sounds interesting, but how accurate is it? Not much apparently.
While the author has said that the facts in the book are accurate, it doesn’t seem to be the case. Tom Hanks, who played an important role in the movie, stated that the story was not meant to be very deep or true to life. There are many things about the story that are not historically accurate. Additionally, the book caused some controversy due to its nature.
The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix is one of the best action movies that are still enjoyed by many people to this day. The story explores a futuristic world where AI machines have taken over and humanity is trapped in suspended animation. To put it simply, it is like being trapped in a virtual world called The Matrix. The first movie was a major success, which is why there were three more sequels after that.
The Matrix Reloaded is the second movie in the franchise and the reason it has made it on this list is thanks to the lack of depth of the movie. What sounds like deep and meaningful conversations is just like a bunch of big words put together without proper depth or meaning. There is no point in so many of the explanations and it will leave you confused once you watch it again.
To Put It All Bluntly
Movies are not a work of perfection, there’s no doubt about that. And depending on the time they were released and the kind of technology or story-writing that other people did, they are all pretty impressive in different ways. But sometimes, it is essential to differentiate, especially when it is targeting some important topics (like mental illness in Joker).
